NBA Rising Stars Invitational is the first regional high-school basketball tournament featuring boys and girls teams from 11 Asia-Pacific countries at the Kallang Tennis Hub in Singapore.
Berwick College is in the boys competition and Flinders Christian College in the girls.
The greatest Australian basketballer of all-time, three-time WNBA MVP Lauren Jackson is an ambassador for the Rising Star Invitational and said the pathways the NBA was creating for aspiring athletes in the Asia-Pacific region was incredible.
"There were no pathways like this when I was a junior, I wish there was," Jackson said.
"I'm really glad I'm able to be a part of it and take my boys with me as well, it's a special event, where not only do these athletes get to play on the international stage but they also get to play against teams from different regions, different styles of basketball and also experience different cultures.
"I think that's a really special thing.
"The work the NBA is doing in the region is amazing and it's really creating a platform for young players around the world to get some great exposure."
Despite being an ambassador for the tournament, Jackson wasn't hiding her bias - tipping both Australian teams to get the job done in Singapore.
The five-day tournament will tip off with a round-robin between June 25 and 27 before single-elimination semi-finals and finals on June 28 and 29.
